Free Tribe Player Characters

The Free Tribes arose from the threat of invasion and solidified from the threat of extinction. Peopled by several dozen different communities and cultures, they are fiercely independent of their business and their destiny.

07/01: As Ace had barely escaped a clown during the fight against the King of Fools, it became very apparent to Ace that they had lost their way. What were they thinking being on the frontlines? Ace took a second to gather themselves and thought back to the mentorship of Jackknife and remembered what he had taught them last year. Deciding that they needed to stick to their strengths, Ace then proceeded to sink back into the shadows. Waiting for their chance to strike and assassinate. (Cunning Deed)

  • Freefolk Arcanist

01/00: On his first visit to snakewater he volunteered on a mission he knew nothing about and witnessed so much violence from these experimented on creatures. 07/00: Adan spent the night using his limited magic, trying to keep up with everyone's injuries while surviving his own. Enough people were given a painful revive to bring us all home after fighting White Eye. region. (Magical Deed)

  • Vizer of the Patient Scrivener Cartel

Subleader of the Steel Wing Sentinels

03/99: Antonino reported using magic to shadowithree suspicious individuals and uncovering a coded message that they left behind (Magical Deed [used])

7/99: Although Antonino was able to bring down the Basilisk a couple of times and delay its assault on the adventures of Snakewater. His inability to maintain concentration while walking not only hindered him but brought him near to death multiple times that night. He will spend the next couple of months learning to multitask. (Magical Deed [used])

9/99: Antonino has spent the past few days gaining an excessive amount of practice scavenging monsters and walking the lands for treasure. Antonino feels his Scavenger allies are starting to rub off on him...for the better.

Fateful deed: Detection Adept. (Magical Deed[used 9/99])

11/99: While Antonino's new powers to anchor targets in one place have proven quite effective, it is not without a flaw.

A few, more intelligent monsters have been able to free themselves from his magical binding through magic or muscle. This oversight has led to Antonino and allies suffering unnecessary injury and this oversight shall be rectified.

Antonino will be dedicating much of his time learning to share the plea..., debilitating pain, he experiences every time he summons his magic. (PYR-Magical Deed [used 01/00])

01/00: Antonino traveled with the Steel Wing Sentinels to the first point to gather a reading after the Professor's experiment broke. After that, he lost track of them and was alone in the dark. Those monstrous creatures were hunting everyone down, and although Antonino did get caught twice, he quickly remembered his shadow magic training. He used his ability to meld with the shadows whenever he heard one of them approaching. It may not have been flashy or heroic, but thanks to his magic, he lives to deal another day. (Magical Deed [used 11/00])

03/00: Plan B did not go as smoothly as hoped. The monstrosity attempted to escape The Steel Wing Sentinals, but Antonino would not let such a creature go. If it was not stopped, it would continue to lay many more eggs. Antonino grabbed the two closest people near him, Jackknife and Zen, and used his magic to pursue the creature.

After catching up to it, the three quickly realized that they might die. This creature was very powerful and would often warp the minds of the three Freetribes men, forcing them to fight each other. Not to mention it still had a minion still protecting it. Many times, the three would be near death. Only through sheer wills to stop the creature and much luck, did they finally bring it down.

After a very long, painful, and exhausting battle Antonino, Jackknife, and Zen returned to the location that they left everyone. It is at this moment they realized how much time had passed, the sun had set. Only Rita Mae Johnson remained. Everyone else had returned to town to recover. They survived and completed the mission. (Magical Deed [used] 11/00)

05/00: Antonino, late Saturday morning, was hired to help rescue a person who fell down a large hole. This hole was home to some bears, so there was a slight risk After walking for some time, the friend told them that they were close. Guildmaster Buzz took a moment to preemptively give the Steel Wing Sentinals some fortification, just in case the bears were around.

It was around this time that a thought popped into Antonino's head, "how does one fall into a hole that is large enou-"

Antonino started to fall, "I found ze hoooollleee!"

He survived the fall thanks to the Guildmaster and quickly Concealed himself and the other person whole fell down the hole until help arrived with a rope.

You would think a person trained in Detection Magic would be more aware of his surroundings. Antonino will take this fumble to heart, and train his physical body and eyes a bit more. (PYR-Magical Deed)

07/00: Antonino spent most of the battle where they had to protect the egg, running from a greater earth entity. At one point in the battle, while Antonino lay dieing on the ground, the same earth entity was downed just 5 feet from him. As he watched the Earth Entity be dismissed, a strong pain pierced his soul. He felt terrible for running away from it and casting rooting magic to keep it away. It only wanted to play but it's version of play could kill him and fear took over. If Antonino will make it as a Bear Shaman, he needs to relax and learn to interact with these Elemental creatures. He promises to play with the Earth Entity should they meet again. (PYR-Battle Deed [used 09/00])

09/00 Antonino assisted Guildmaster Buzz in the creation of a sword for Jacknife. While watching and studying the intricate work he was doing, Antonino used his magic of divination to amplify the guildmaster and grant him knowledge beyond that which he can normally do. (Ingenious Deed)

01/01: Antonino was sitting, talking to Raff when he noticed Zen looking a little too closely at Jacknife. Antonino was sure Zen ment him no harm but a little voice was telling Antonino this will be fun. Plus he would get to use a spell he has never been able to put into effect.

Through the oath that binds Antonino and Jacknife, Antonino sent his shadow to shield Jacknife from Zen's gaze and blind him in the process. I think Sprinkle liked that one. (persuasive deed [used 09/01])

03/01: Antonino was at the top of his game kiting the giant mushroom around the battle field. Summoning the destructive power of Flame to slowly burn it to ash. He used Shadow Magic to mask his movements from the smaller plant monsters. He even found himself shielding and curing the people of Snakewater. The cleansing of the land was a success but he could get stronger, he will dive deeper into the magic. (Magical Deed)

  • Sibling of Sin

09/01: Arson wasn’t sure what to expect on her arrival to Snakewater, despite the reassurance of “you’ll (probably) fit right in,’ and had mentally prepared for the worst. But where she thought others would find her off-putting or unmanageable, she instead found warm welcomes, friendly smiles, and even genuine excitement for the power she wielded. After almost seamlessly falling in line with the Bearers of Wicked Fate, she agreed to help Nightbreaker and the others hunt a Wild Spirit known as the Hunter Under the Arbor, using her intense fire magic to help bring the creature down. In celebration, the group feasted on the Wild Spirit’s organs and Arson happily chewed on the poison glands she was offered--and perhaps felt, for the first time in her life, that she belonged. It was still a surprise to her when Zen offered her an official position in the guild, but she accepted nonetheless, with only perhaps a smidge of hesitation and anxiety for what lies ahead in her path. (Magical Deed)

  • Soldier of the Shielding Palms

    Guilder of the Welcome Wagon

03/99: Arthur was seen withstanding wave after wave of Gloom Geists, enduring without fail their shadowy claws upon his armor and his shield. (Battle Deed [used])

05/99: Arthur went strike for strike against Half-Circle of the Blood Moons. Few blows struck his allies or his own self because of his expert defenses. (Battle Deed [used])

07/99: During the escort mission for the ashes of Paladin Talos' sister, Arthur worked side by side with other members of the Free Tribes to defend his Grailguard brother from the Necrotheurge's assault. Due to Arthur's and his fellow free-tribers efforts everyone came away unharmed and the mission was successful. (Battle Deed)

09/99: Arthur, alongside the rest of Snakewater, fought bravely with the shieldwall at the front of the assault against the Night Kings and their Vampiric Lair. Arthur refused to yield and kept pushing against the waves of those batty fools. Nearly everyone made it out safely, save for a few but not without Arthur and a few others efforts to make a last ditch effort to save the few remaining stragglers. (Battle Deed)

  • Packhunter of the Greenleaves

  • Hellhound of the Lightning in Chains

Guilder of the Bearers of Wicked Fate

JULY 00: While fighting to keep the Basilisk egg intact, Brick’s skills were immediately tested by the multitude of maddened beings aiming to feed off the energies of the god. Shield by his side and friends on his back, he endured the onslaught of formidable attacks. After the long fight, Brick was able to escape with his life, and was glad to see the Basilisk fully reformed. (Battle Deed [used])

JULY 01: -Brick was wrought with confusion when two of his guild members disappeared right in front of him. After rallying with the other Hellhounds, a deal was struck, but the fires or vengeance were ignited against the King in Lightning’s men. The assailants were hunted down and didn’t survive the remainder of the day, and that’s what will always happen when you mess with the people of Snakewater, and especially the Bearers of Wicked Fate!

-As a bonding ritual, Brick participated in the call and response of the Temple of the Shattered Mother’s “Hallowed Asylum of the God-Empress” in order to ward the town from the worst effects of the King of Fools and their…“realm”. As a small aside, Dauntless, a dedicated Templar, helped Brick make an adornment with words of strength and encouragement for times of hardship or doubt, as he did for many others.

-From the extremely biased view of Brick, the better bonding ritual took place shortly afterward, when Malice led a fighting mosh pit dedicated to the Executrix’s Blessing of Agony to further be a boon to Snakewater and its inhabitants. [Battle Deed]

  • Gunhand for the Ghoststar Company
    Guilder for the Welcome Wagon

NOV 99: During a scrap with Narcis and their underlings, Buzz saw his friends downed behind enemy lines. After a little flanking and bushwhacking Buzz managed to get behind a tree with the plan of using his runic arm to extend his restorative magics to his comrades. Unfortunately that didn’t work because he completely wiffed the cast. Frustrated he ran forward and used the power of his faith to quickly renew his fallen ally. His ancestors were truly smiling upon him that day. (Magical Deed)

JAN 00: Buddy “Buzz” Buzzard looked upon a cantina filled with cursed and broken delvers and offered his services to help restore harmony to their bodies and souls. Using the aid of a few tubes he began extracting these afflictions and distilling them for sweet sweet reggies. (Magical Deed)

MAR 00: During the fight to banish the creature that was manipulating and feeding on the people of Snakewater, Buzz bolstered his fellow guildies with resolve with his restorative magics ensuring they could take the damage the eye stalks and tentacles could dish out. (magical deed)

MAY 00: Buzz found himself in a bad situation after pursuing White Eye with his fellow delvers. Cutting through their ranks like butter, White Eye struck down Buzz as he tried to concentrate on his restorative magics. Buzz will think twice about his positioning when White Eye is on the battlefield. (PYR-Magical Deed)

JULY 00: Buzz used restore vitality to revive one of AuuuAauuugggGgGGggHhhhhh’s fallen water gheists. This helped curry favor with the Whisper and helped keep it from siphoning power from the Basalisk as it was creating its new vessel. (Magical Deed)

SEPT 00: During the battle that ended with the banishment of the Pursuer, Buzz saw his friend, Jackknife, about to have shadowy energies siphoned from his vulnerable body. Buzz conjured his restorative magics into his eldritch-tech enhanced right hand, hurling it through the chaos of battle, and brought the Shadow Mind of the guild back from the brink of death. (Magical Deed)

NOV 00: While the magna storm raged through Snakewater, Buzz had his voice stolen by one of it’s manifestations. With no way of chanting the words required to magically heal his ally’s, Buzz used his knowledge of first aid to get them back in the fight. (Ingenious deed)

JAN 01 : Buzz caught a glimpse of some hunched over form thinking it was an ally that needed help and hurried over to bless them with his aid. As Buzz got closer he realized that it was a subdued Skinner left to a slow death by his fellow delvers. Muttering a prayer of mercy and forgiveness, Buzz began to concentrate on a spell. As the eldritch energies left Buzz’s rune wand the twisted creature winced in pain as it stood back up. Buzz shouted at the Skinner. “Go! Leave this place and do not return!” The Skinner shrieked and limped into the darkness. Buzz knew what he did was an act of mercy but the thought of what harm that skinner could do to someone else hung in his mind for the coming nights as he drifted off to sleep. (Magical Deed; used 02/24)

MAR 01: With the downpours blessing from the Whispers, Buzz placed his bowls out to collect the rainwater that he uses in some of his prayers and rituals. To his pleasure both were filled to the top after the storm had passed. With a wink to the sky and some soft words Buzz anchored himself with the power of deotheurgy [Magical Deed, Used 05/01]

  • Sibling of Sin

05/99: Soon after Cam walked into town, he was seen alongside the Freebooters. With armor, shield, and resolve, he withstood the Blood Moon Cultists’ attacks and stopped their desecration rite (Battle Deed [Used 5/22])

07/99: Cam battled alongside the Free Tribes against Necrotheurgic geists and their shadowy mistress. He pushed himself to exhaustion and blocked as many blows as he could, not stopping until the job was done and his enemies driven before him. (Battle Deed [used 7/99])

11/99: Slogging through the swampy muck, Cam fought alongside the rest of the free tribes against a swarm of magically created mud monsters. Even though the mire slowed him down, he was still able to hold his own, despite getting pummeled by clay fists. He learned about weaknesses in his armor that he plans to cover up, but hindsight is 20/20 and the damage was already done. (PYR-Battle Deed [used])

01/00: Early in the day, Cam went to help the Templars gain ancient knowledge from summoning a creature from a book to ask it questions. He didn’t quite know what it was, but he knew one thing: no-one was getting close to Thunderbolt Adams doing the ritual. With hobbled legs, Cam stood guard for the summoner the entire time, blocking threats, and expending all of his armor and focus. But in the end, she was safe. (Battle Deed)

07/00: Cam fought hard to defend against the summoned spirits that were looking to corrupt the Basilisk egg/cocoon. “Not again.” He thought. And when it was close to hatching, and the spirits began to pulse and burst, he planted in front of the Egg. When it hit him, he used his last bit of focus to block the shot and knock the attacker backwards to give the egg more room to grow. If only he could do that more often. Perhaps he just needs dig deeper. (PYR-Battle)

09/01: Some of the Freetribes fighters went with Copperjaw Shaw to help clean up his most recent experiment. The group walked into a nauseating area filled with infected insect creatures that violently attacked the interlopers. The fight was hard and there were many injuries. While fighting one of the bugs to defend his allies, it spat acid into the neck piece of his armor. As his flesh began to melt, he screamed out, attracting the attention of the bug that latched its pincers into the other side of his neck. Flailing and yelling, Cam focused for one final push, he bashed the creature with his shield, and then knocked it off of his body and into a tree. As the pain from the acid burn died down, he managed to gather himself enough to help his friends finish off the fight, but the injury continued to linger. (PYR Battle [used 09/01])

  • Eidolonic Psion

JULY 99: Cid used all of his Eldritch, Toxic, and Psychic power when with the Free Tribes to stop the Grailguard’s doppelganger from stopping the ashes to get through, Toxically Projecting Agony to mangle her arms and Psychically Projecting Force to snare the minions in place. (Magical Deed)

NOV 99: During the first infiltration mission everyone came face to face with a series of electrified wires that surely would fry everything it comes into contact with. For the first wire, Cid decided to step up and test out his newly-found cognition gained from outside sources of power and his near-death that led to the power of Xenotheurgy. He used an Unravelling Hex that disarmed the first set of wires quickly and efficiently and without any backlash to himself. With his Hex Woven though his cognition grew near sited so he could not perform any more hexes until resting again, and relied upon others to do the rest of the disarming. At the least, his power was known, and can only grow from there. (Magical Deed)

JAN 00: During the Illustrados delve into the cave, everyone was being set upon Owlbears and other creatures that were stopping the backlines from progressing further and were very tough. Cid wove his spell through the power granted to him from beyon this world to cast a Wrathful Hex, hitting an Owlbear and another creature and sending the both of them into a vicious frenzy attacking each other so Cid and his allies could progress. Cid laughed (Maniacally) with glee seeing that his power was useful and could help him and his allies crush their enemies. (Magical Deed)

MAY 00: Cid had a lengthy discussion with Kokee teaching about the dangers, wonders, and potentials of Xenotheurgy as Kokee wished to learn more. This has sparked something within Cid making him want to be able to properly teach others, properly research Xenotheurgy, and chronicle his findings. (Persuasive Deed [used 06/00])

JULY 00: Cid joined in the ritual to talk to the basilisk and contributed by talking about his experiences of being near death to experience visions of the cosmos and being brought back up by his brother as something beautiful. This along with all of the others involved helped to bring the voice of the Basilisk so they could hear that they needed to prepare to protect it for its reformation. (Persuasive Deed [used 9/1])

SEPT 00: Cid was given the task of using the Ice Staff when they went into the wildfire. He was able to weild it in it's purpose to sheild others from the intense heat they were feeling. Learning to wield the staff's energies helped Cid to better understand how to wield his own energies, up until the staff was no longer able to protect against the wildfire. (magical)

SEPT 01: Cid, hearing faint whispers in the back of his mind, was compelled to hold a ritual callinf out to the unknown Eldritch Entity whispering into his mind. Cid used this new power to perform a restore Harmony Ritual with the help of the Bearers of Wicked Fate after going through the noxious area and being sickened.

Cid called out "Ihbar Disq Uhi Eth!", and demanded the power to help himself and his friends from this unknown Entity. While the Ritual was finished, the Entity didn't appreciate Cid's demanding tone and cursed him in the process for his insolence. (PYR-magical (used 09/01))

  • Doctor of the Ghoststar Company

    Guilder of the Welcome Wagon

  • A Doctor and a Tinker

03/99: Doc Tinker brought solace and healing unto Uncle Junker and his allies, amidst the chaos of battle. Unfortunately, the tumult resulted in his wounds becoming mildly infected (Ingenious Deed [used])

  • Ghoststar Arcanist

  • Ghoststar Soother

  • Grailguard Warrior

11/99: When a scouting and infiltration mission went sideways and the Snakewater Delvers were forced to make a fighting withdrawal, Sir Hektor of Ilium and a few others formed the rearguard, keeping the pursuing forces of Oberon King of Fools at bay while they and their allies withdrew to the relative safety of Snakewater. Due in no small part to the efforts of this rearguard action, not only did the entire infiltration team make it back to Snakewater, but their ranks were actually increased by one compared to the start of the mission. They had rescued an ally who had been left behind by a prior infiltration team. (Battle Deed)

  • Scavver of the Ratking Caravan
    Guilder of the Steelwing Sentinels

09/99: After Hobo Jones spent an entire night getting eaten alive by chiggers in his exceptionally constructed hobo hut. He realized that his random assortment of trash wasn't just trash it created a bond of knitted armor surrounding him and protecting him from further chompychompy arachnids. (Ingenious Deed [used])

03/00: During the battle; besieged by the unseen horror waging war against the collective folk of snake water, Hobo Jones took Totty's Pistol and munitions pouch into the fray to fight side by side with his fellow Steel Wings. During the battle Hobo Jones cleared many type 1 and type 2 malfunctions (gunsmith) while using Totty's gun against the burrowing monstrosities. His familiarity with this weapon type led him to find the root cause of this issue on the fly. A defect in one of the chambers of the revolver's cylinder was to blame. With the six shooter now a five shooter reloading became all the more problematic and frequent. The wear and tear on his wrists proved worrisome leaving them shaking and broken. (PYR-battle deed [used 07/00])

07/00: A water boi of considerable power said something and Hobo Jones's cohorts said some stuff back. Hobo Jones only picked up on one minor detail during the whole interaction "treasure in the lake" as he face plunged into the surprisingly warm and clean water of the Snakewater lake. As Hobo Jones walked the bottom of the lake looking for shinies of all sorts, trouble was brewing at the surface. The large water boi sent his water geists to drag hobo's friends into the water. Arms full of treasure Hobo Jones jumped into action to bolster moral and render aid to his comrades who where pummeled nearly to death. That's when disaster stuck. Hobo Jones was greeted with a bone crunching smack of the water gheists flailing appendage upon his old man back. The sound echoed across the beach like a skipping stone upon the water. The wounds would be healed but the emotional damage… that's another story…{PYR-Persuasive Deed [used 07/00]

11/00: The anchors were set. Hobo Jones lined up the towns folk, showing each of them who has their back by flourishing his banner emblazoned with the symbol of the Steel Wing Sentinels. This allowed the towns folk a brief morale bonus as the storm approached. (Persuasive deed )

03/01: Alright, so there I was. Standing there against an onslaught of Ice Geists. Their attacks were relentless, chilling anyone they touched to the bone. The group was setting up these thingamabobs or something I wasnt paying attention, magical nonsense mumbojumbo. A wave of super spookey chilly discharge stuff hit everyone. I looked around to see everyone yelping in agony. "Time to shine boys" I muttered to myself as I sprung into action. While Totty and Buzz set up the red brick things I stood tall blocking blow after blow stretching my armor and my health to its limits. With precision I whipped out them fancy bandages and wouldn't you know it the hands just moved on their own. Muscle memory I'm told, I just started clotting up everything I could get my hands on including myself. Patched up I was able to use my stoic statuesque mass to body block some more. Everything was over before I knew it and the whole area got warmer or i peed myself or something either way it all worked out alright. (Ingenious Deed)

  • Ghoststar Gunhand

  • Arcanist of the Rainbird Caravan

  • Scavver of the Ratking Caravan
Guilder for the Steel Wings Sentinels

09/99: Whilst assisting the Scavvers in retrieving cargo from a radiated area, naturally there were inferno geists to defeat. Totty shooting her venemous blood at such an enemy, ended up missing and hitting a fellow ally. Mistakes were made. The corrosive damage done as a result to this fellow ally lead her to dive fully into researching how she might prevent or cure the afflicted of such venom and poisons in the future. (Ingenious [used])

03/00: Totty through much research of chemical function and properties was able to create an inferno vial herb kit [Explosive Elementalist]. Totty then tested the abilities of this inferno vial kit in the field when defending/aiding her fellow Steel Wing Sentinels on a wild egg hunt. We were told not to consume the eggs, and Totty resisted with much effort in self restraint. (PYR-Ingenious Deed [used 03/00])

07/00: As Totty entered the beach landscape she watched Hobo Jones pummel into the water with haste of a being that would say “glub glub”. After a big watery genie-esc presence appeared and invited us into the water to see his treasures, suddenly, there were many aetheric water beings surrounding Totty and her Steel-Winged buddies. These beings were relentless to share space with Totty and her friends (perhaps for some underwater tea?), dragging her into the deep waters where she almost drowned several times. Totty’s wet, scaly hands were slippery from this experience, causing her to fumble with her Inferno Vial Herb Kit, missing the geists (most) of the time. (PYR- Ingenious Deed]

  • Fomori Scavver
Guilder for the Steel Wing Sentinels

03/99: Against the Necrolossus’ Geists, Jackknife faded into crowds and shadows, bringing down enemies with surprise salvos from cover (Cunning Deed)

05/99: After working to help decrypt a document for the library, coupled with sharpening his reflexes on the battlefield, Jackknife began to explore the ways of the Reader to enhance his capabilities in and out of combat (Cunning Deed [used])

09/99: Jackknife lurked in the shadows, watching his enemies' movements, finding openings in their defense, chasing them down, and discovering a synergy with Maverick. At alpha lab, he defended the back line and carried Gaki back to the inn with Maverick after he blew his leg off (Cunning Deed)

11/99: Patience is said to be a virtue, but sometimes, the need to act quickly becomes necessary. Jackknife has taken the time to learn to hang back and circle around while watching his quarry. However, his most recent encounters with the King of Flowers and the Shambler have shown him that, while it pays to watch and study his targets, to truly know his enemies will allow him to strike faster, harder, and more effectively. (PYR-Cunning Deed [used 01/00]

01/00: Jackknife had his work cut out for him, hunting Blood Moon Avatars, cracking cyphers for secret meetings and foreboding warnings, and getting teleported to an alternate dimension. Acting quickly, he had to re-decode the prophetic cypher in order to figure out the glyphs on a cryptic puzzle. When trying to gather parts for the professr, Jackknife realized he had to be even quicker on the draw and with evasiveness if he's to survive another encounter with that dimension. (PYR-Cunning Deed)

03/00: Slowly, but surely, Jackknife is learning what it means to be a hunter, not just for monsters, but with allies as well it seems. After returning with Antonino and Zen from their pursuit and execution of the pregnant monstrosity, Jackknife found himself having to track down Malleus through the woods as a result of some disturbing visions of clowns and jesters, and was able to ensure others could follow suit and aid their companion.

Jackknife was also able to finally crack a tricky puzzle box cypher with the assistance of his fellow steel wings (Cunning Deed)

MAY 00: Jackknife has made himself a particular pest for enemy healers, silencing them from the shadows to prevent them from providing resolve to monsters and harrying them in melee to stop pocket healing berserker smites. With one hp and a dream he chased down the fleeing lunar portent, helped to bring it down, and stood his ground in front of White Eye while his allies delivered the killing blow. During White Eye's retreat, Jackknife was part of the group that went after him, and ultimately fell to his wild lightning smites before he retreated again. (Cunning Deed; used 06/00])

07/00: With the addition of a new member to the Steel Wings, Jackknife played mentor to the young Ace. During battles, such as our victory against White Eye and first encounter with AuuuAauuugggGgGGggHhhhhh, Jackknife brought Ace into stealth with him to increase her ambush potential, as well as provide openings for her during the fray so she could hit with Assassinate attacks. Jackknife was able to strike with his own Precise Assassinates during these fights, catching enemies off guard with his lethal attacks. (PYR Battle Deed)

09/00: Jackknife had a small part in everything leading up to and during this event. Diving deeper into Enigmatology, Jackknife used his knowledge of Astralese to decipher the riddles left behind by the Pursuer and breakthrough the skin layers protecting its core to banish this planar avatar. Seeing how relentlessly the Pursuer chased down the traveler, and always with allies, has given Jackknife ideas. (PYR-Cunning Deed)

11/00: Jackknife thought that after aiding the Traveler escape from the clutches of the Pursuer, he would have some sort of break from decrypting strange runes... he was wrong. After doing what he could to ensure the anchors stayed activated during the storm, Jackknife was told by Buzz that they needed assistance inside decoding the runes on the magna rods and constructing the batteries to contain the storm's energy. Realizing he'd be more help inside than out, Jackknife got to work decoding like he does. Through the combined efforts of Jackknife, Eli, and a very tired Pi, the three were able to prepare as many batteries as there were magna rods, helping to secure a better than expected result with regards to energy captured and damage mitigated. (PYR-Cunning Deed [used 3/01])

01/01: An enchanted tunnel with lettered tiles on the floor, where the words and phrases spelt out by those seek passage seem to take form. Jackknife and the others watched in shock and horror as their guide was captured by flesh skinners across the other side of this cursed cavernous corridor before he could give them the proper phrase. After several painful attempts, and a few that were needed to save his allies who were either taken into the walls by stony hands or flushed out to waters unknown, Jackknife secured safe passage for everyone via the phrase "Walk the Open Path", before heading into the dreaded "Room of No Return". (Cunning Deed)

03/01: After a hard fought battle against the doom shroom's contaminated forces so the basilisk could devour it, Jackknife and the other Steel Wings were informed that Pale Oak had finally been sighted. When the Steel Wings found Pale Oak tampering with a series of wards, we were able to enter into a dialogue of sorts with him, trying to break through the mutterings of a madman led astray. During the conversation, Jackknife used his powers of mental deduction and inquiry to peer deep into the mind of Pale Oak before he was taken over by Yama. From this glimpse inside the madman's mind, Jackknife was able to pull 3 names that were bonded to Pale Oak: Yama, Sir Perceval the Feared, and Bear Apostle Sindra. The Steel Wings have already considered that Pale Oak may be working with Nunaz in some way, but now it seems this web spreads far wider. (Cunning Deed)

JULY 01: Jackknife struggled heavily this event with his mentality. Feeling unable to serve effectively on the frontline, Jackknife did we could in the background: disarming the barrier points so he and the others could escape Clown Town, and pushing back any clowns who attempted to damage the expansions around Snakewater. Despite his fears and paranoia, or perhaps driven by it, Jackknife delivered the death blow to a target they had been chasing for months after the target's defenses had finally been worn down by the rest of the Steel Wings and ECL:PS. What should have felt like a victory, only further served to rattle Jackknife, something that did not go unnoticed by others.

MAR 99: Maverick manned the ballista against the Geists and the Necrolossus, raining death and destruction until he was overrun by a rush of Blood Geists (Battle Deed [used])

MAY 99: Maverick got absolutely jacked by pumping iron in the inn, allowing him to better fight for the town in both ranged and melee combat. However, his swole but sore muscles made him an absolute snack for the vlants, and he was eaten alive trying to protect the professor. (Battle Deed [used])

JULY 99: It was at this event that life imitated art. After an award winning performance depicting the defeat of the step serpent at the hands of Snakewater's heroic guardians, Maverick went on to battle the Basilisk irl, keeping it grounded long enough for others to incapacitate it. They don't call him Method Acting Maverick for nothing. (Battle Deed)

SEPT 99: Maverick split his time between knocking back failed explosive elixirs and knocking back vampire plants. In addition to unleashing the ballistic push on the foul bush, the healer hunter cranked out some bicep curls with radioactive cargo, hoping to suffer the mutation of sick gains. (Battle Deed [used 07/00])

NOV 99: As the rest of Snakewater fought to disrupt the reaper engines, Maverick locked his sights on the Shambler lurking in the outskirts of the battle. With the help of two of his friends, Maverick kept the beast from interfering and shot it down. However, as Maverick's stood with his face covered in shambler guts, he noticed the damage done to the King of Flower's face, and lamented the strain this would doubtlessly place on their budding romance. (PYR-Battle Deed)

JAN 00: Move over King of Flowers, bromance is in the air! Maverick and several other badass town members were sought out by the Vundarkin tracker Barrow to find and kill a Xenomorphic monster. Together, Maverick, Barrow, and other top fighters dispatched the monster's shadowy offspring, cornered our prey, and brought the alien menace down. Muscles were flexed, led was poured, and fists were bumped. Maverick even managed not to vomit upon witnessing Barrow feast on the creature's carcass. He was rewarded for his skill, power, and constitution by sharing in Barrows celebratory road hooch, and now prepares to hunt down the remaining meiotic portions of the umbral scourge. (Battle Deed [used 06/00])

MAR 00: In the battle to banish the tentacled monster that had tethered itself to Snakewater, Maverick did what he does best: moving things 10 feet away and dealing damage. To no one's surprise, he brutalized the tendrils and used his genius level intellect to deflect the creature's song of lies. However, while he was pre-occupied with mental combat he was unable to protect his feeble healers, leaving them to be easily downed by even the weakest of enemies. In the future he will need to balance his own might with the frailty of those he holds close to him. (PYR-Battle Deed [used 07/00])

MAY 00: To filter the Exalted Guard's ineptitude from the training of their new recruits, Maverick offered to help with their combat drills. While there was no hope for any of the recruits to reach Maverick's skill with a firearm, he still gave a valuable demo in how not to die. He went one on one unarmed against their top champion, THE BLADE. Maverick showed off some evasive maneuvers and tactical counterstrikes, literally setting big tree field ablaze with their dazzling duel. (Battle Deed [used 06/00])

JULY 00: Maverick got word that the one time Steel Wing went out without him they almost got pulled down to the bottom of the lake by wailing water wildlings. And he took that personally. When the time came to protect the basilisk egg from these soggy spirits, Maverick went straight for the head hydro to show him that lead was thicker than water. They went back and forth with violent exchanges, until Malleus intervened to make peace. With his help, Maverick sustained a devastating wound to his pride and apologized for his aggression. The wet weirdo accepted, and they spent the rest of the battle as hydro homies. Although Maverick's ego and bloodlust were both hurt in the making of this character arc, the two parted ways with the knowledge that the real basilisk egg was the friends they made along the way. (PYR-Battle Deed [used 01/01]

SEPT 00: As the heroes of Snakewater went deeper inside the Pursuer, the steel wingman Maverick took on a familiar role of distracting giant overprotective dubs while his nerdy friends penetrated some sphincters. As is common with one's first time, it took a while for the geeks to find the hole. Maverick gave out round after round of shots from across the field to lower the Pursuer's defenses and give his friends some privacy, allowing them to finally score a place in the Pursuer's heart. Once they got what they wanted, we swiftly kicked the Pursuer out of our home. Just another Saturday night for ol' Maverick. (Battle Deed)

NOV 00: Maverick was paired with Horace to defend Snakewater from the Storm of the Century. Maverick could see the worry in Horace's eyes, and gave words of encouragement to ease his pal's nerves, as together they welcomed the typhoon.

However, once the storm started Maverick learned that shooting frost rounds into a living blizzard and lightning rounds into a living thunderstorm were suboptimal techniques. Even his knockback rounds were defied monstrously. As he quickly ran out of options and magazines, desperation creeped in. Then, from directly to his left, Maverick heard Horace shout "Well oim just a wee little healer but.." and brandish a single short sword. With his other hand still on the device, Horace went wild with fury, slashing and stabbing through the clouds and rain. Once the point was secured he healed Mav mid onslaught, howling in rage as he both gave life and took it away.

At the end of the battle Horace, covered in the enemy's rain, turned and gave a thumbs up to Maverick. "Roight then, best we head inside." Maverick, realizing that the storm's weakness was righteous fury, will bring some more of his own next time around. (PYR-Battle Deed [used 1/01)]

03/01: After a hard fought battle against the doom shroom's contaminated forces so the basilisk could devour it, Jackknife Maverick and the other Steel Wings were informed that Pale Oak had finally been sighted. When the Steel Wings found Pale Oak tampering with a series of wards, ((we were able to enter into a dialogue of sorts with him )) Maverick shot him like 10 times, trying to break through the mutterings of a madman led astray. During the conversation, ((Jackknife used his powers of mental deduction and inquiry to peer deep into the mind of Pale Oak before he was taken over by Yama)) Maverick shot him with a tracer round where the sun don't shine. ((From this glimpse inside the madman's mind, Jackknife was able to pull 3 names that were bonded to Pale Oak) At some point between getting turned into swiss cheese, Pale Oak said something about Yama, Sir Perceval the Feared, and Bear Apostle Sindra. The Steel Wings have already considered that Pale Oak may be working with Nunaz in some way, but now it seems this web spreads far wider. (Battle Deed)

MAY 01: After receiving his orders from The Great Machine, Maverick utilized his new gift to inflict perfection upon the defenders of Snakewater. Maverick took advantage of their numerous weaknesses, including their soft bullet sponge flesh, their reliance on healers to survive, and their naive faith in his humanity, to systematically shoot them down. Thankfully for everyone, Mobius eventually subdued Maverick long enough to cut his eye augment out, and (thankfully for Maverick) Dauntless regenerated it once the master dominate ended. After being absolutely brutalized by someone they trusted, everyone actually forgave Maverick pretty easily, once again showing the imperfection of their flesh and souls. (Battle Deed)

JULY 01: While everyone else in Snakewater was teleported to clown hell like a bunch of dorks, Maverick, the other clown zaddies, and Mommy Malleus were protected by our clown babies! Ezzie lasso'd Maverick to keep him from being pulled away, and together they stopped Malleus' uncanny clone from siphoning our realm into clown town! Maverick's decision to finally be present in one of his children's lives paid off, and the clown babies that everyone swore would be the death of Snakewater ended up saving the day. Suck it, losers!

Also, Maverick won the marksman competition. Obviously.
    [Battle Deed]

SEPT 01: As a specialist in tracking down canned food to eat, it is only natural that Maverick would be instrumental in the hunt for the Ravioli. First, Maverick cleared a path for Captain Talin, a true hero, to plant a bomb next to the sleeping animal. Next, he kept the orbiting lightning bugs away from the other hunters, countering their aura with his own infinite one. Simultaneously, Mav used his superior sharpshooting and alluring sex appeal to draw the Ravioli into range of the artillery weaponry, which almost matched Goose in raw firepower. Finally, with pure lightning in the palm of his hand, Maverick snared the creature with Talin, allowing the town to humanely capture the mutilated, frostbitten, bullet soaked beast. Always fun being the good guys. (battle deed)

  • Wandering Singer

SEPT 101: As the final battle with the Rai-Oni loomed ever closer, Manlaus saw the tension building as the heores prepared to do battle. Despite his recent arrival to the town, he stepped forth to ease the nerves of the heroes through song. He started with a relaxing song about how to let go of the tension and greet the world with open arms. He then moved on to singing of a young boy wishing to push through his fears of fighting monsters to become legendary, inspiring the heroes as they prepared to face down this new monster. Through his positive message spreading unity, openness, and hope he aimed to unite the Heroes in their cause to capture the Rai-Oni, and rally their spirits.

MAY 00: Nightbreaker, along side Zen and Kaitok, took down a rogue automoton created by Malice. Tapping into the powers that are still very foreign to him, Nightbreaker managed to disjunct the magics flowing through the machine rendering it inert. [Magical Deed; used 06/00]

SEPT 00: Nightbreaker transmuted the burning energies of the walls of fire on the mountain into harmless air. Disarming the traps allowed the group to rescue the runic boxes containing information that was pertinent to his guild. (Cunning Deed; used 05/01)

05/99: Rev partook in an Elixir from the Peace Makers, opening his mind and inspiring him toward scientific progress. (Ingenious [used])

11/99: Though Rev is not as useful on the battlefield as many others, his knowledge of chemistry and brewing came in handy. Saturday night into Sunday morning saw Rev crafting many unstable venomroot antidotes. The application of these antidotes on the blight growing from the land gave Rev many ideas for new concoctions in the future. (PYR-Ingenious deed)

MAY 99: Peep used a little magic and a little technical know-how to bring a fellow metabionic friend back from beyond the Blue Screen of Death! However, due to driver incompatibilities, there may be some unforeseen effects. (Magical Deed)

SEPT 101: Peep was overtaken by wonder. The Rai-Oni is an impressive creature in and of itself, but one can usually put aside such contemplation for later. Generally, nearly getting cronched is a remarkably potent balm for the wandering mind.

However, upon entering the place the Rai-Oni fled to, the wavering arcanist was engrossed in the environment the encroaching monster had presumably created. The twinkling canopy draws one's eye, but if one gazes too long and too... up, one risks becoming saturated with starlight. One must take care, when noticing, that one is not noticed in turn.

11/99: While escorting some Templars on a routine exorcism, things took a turn for the worse when an entity known as The Harrier launched a relentless assault in an attempt to stop the ritual. Rusty fought tirelessly to ensure the cleansing succeeded, though the attacks he sustained left him worse for wear.(PYR Battle Deed [used 07/00])

01/00: Despite having no idea what the Professor was talking about, Rusty and his buddies managed to retrieve several encabulator parts while escorting several more intellectually inclined individuals to gather location data, guarding them against otherworldly horrors in the process. (Battle Deed)

07/00: When attempting to investigate the basilisk shrine inside the cave, Rusty and his fellow Steelwings were confronted with a series of puzzles. Clearly out of his element, Rusty helped as much as he could; picking up and putting down boxes, attempting to count things, and copying down funny symbols on to some scrap paper, straining the limits of his mental abilities. (PYR-Ingenious Deed)

  • An Uncle and a Junker

05/00: Uncle Junker spent several hours picking up trash throughout Snakewater while the other townsfolk saved him from Eldritch Horrors beyond his comprehension. Uncle doesn't tend to concern himself with all the fighting and glory and tough-guy stuff - he instead used his uncanny knack for refurbishing junk to begin developing what he calls "Public Works Programs". (Ingenious Deed [used 06/00]).

  • Hellhound of the Mercykiller Motorgang

SEPT 99: Noticing Aguilar working to activate a strange new device in the alpha lab, Zen rushed forward to strike him down, etheric flame on his blade and shrouded in protective magics, but got there a moment too late. The device was activated with Zen standing right next to it, and the ensuing attack on his soul shredded his protections and left him seriously wounded, in body and mind. (PYR-Magical Deed [used 11/00] )

NOV 99: When the King of Flowers projected into Snakewater to attack, it was clear that the town needed to move quickly to disrupt their efforts and send them packing. With no small amount of help from Mavericks romantic and distracting proclamations to the Night King, Gaki and Zen were able to disrupt their lethal projection, keeping Snakewater safe a little while longer. (Magical Deed)

JAN 00: Zen learned that library lane had come into the possession of a mysterious cipher and some sort of equally mysterious puzzle cylinder alongside it. Since others seemed preoccupied Zen got to work. As he worked, he became furiously determined to complete the cipher, refusing to leave his work, even as Templars summoned spirits elsewhere. Eventually, one of the wicked xeno creatures he'd been helping track closed in, but he refused to leave the cipher undone, he was gripped by a madness to complete it. With Jackknifes help he finished the cipher in time for the hunt, but he just couldn't bear to think about anything too much after that. (PYR-Persuasive Deed)

MAR 00: Whatever manner of creature it was that was hatched from inside the flour and radiation covered boxes, the Free Tribes knew they couldn't be left alone. One seemed able to germinate more of its kind in relatively quick succession, but when it attempted to flee only Jackknife, Antonino, and Zen were able to pursue through spellcraft. After a long battle that was near-won, and many parasitic blood frenzies, the creature was struck down, and Zen pulled their large silver egg-shaped prize from its body. They survived, but the creatures corrosive mucus and parasites had done serious harm to all three. (PYR-battle deed )

MAY 00 Knowing it would only empower his enemies rage-fueled blows, Zen spent the battle against the Lunar portent striking out at White-Eye, hoping to keep him away from it. Snakewater couldn't allow him to consume the creature and potentially become even more powerful. When White-Eye was thwarted, he fled the field, and Zen was part of the pursuit, and the ensuing struggle. While the fight didn't go well for the delvers, Zen chooses to look at the situation optimistically, and enjoy the fact that White-Eye ran from them twice that night. (Battle Deed)

SEPT 00: As the wildfire raged on the mountain, both Hellhounds and Templars struggled to push through the assembled geists and retrieve the runic vaults, as waves of flame rolled over them. Infusing his armor with magical energies to help him endure the heat (and the geists) Zen just managed to get the last vault out alongside Malleus, but when he looked back it appeared to him that only those touched by the God-Empress had survived the mountain. (Magical Deed)

JAN 01: After returning from the Warrens, Zen couldn't help but notice that the strange device that had been causing the seismic disturbances was seated atop a nearby table being poked and prodded by Jacknife. Delving deep into its innards, almost in a trance, Zen worked furiously to dismantle the device, faster even than he thought he ever could. It was only after he was done that Zen realized his hands had developed a tremor and he felt deeply nauseous. As he went to try to sleep it off, he couldn't help but think, maybe he should stop playing with bizarre machines pulled from the clutches of monsters. (PYR-cunning deed)

JULY 01: While pondering Dauntless' purity seals, Zen suddenly found himself somewhere else entirely, and surrounded by enemies! It was a hard fought battle to defend both Horace and himself against terrible odds with blade and mace alone, as there was no time for spellcraft. Ultimately though, it wasn't enough, and he was captured. As a result, he became, possibly the first, victim of kidnap-for-ransom in Snakewater. He will remember this indignity forever.
