Gunslinger (or Bowslinger)

Even in the World Beyond the Fall, humans and beasts still respect the power of bullets and arrows. With coordination, a fusillade from archers and gunners can pierce thick carapaces and armored furs. Ironically, Gun and Bowslingers have a comparable survivability rate as their melee counterparts despite the “safer” methodology of shooting from afar -- their propensity for duels and trick shots may account for a decent amount of these fatalities.

Future Build Options:

  • Slinger (Warrior): increased damage and utility with Ranged attacks

  • Scrapper (Warrior): for increased toughness and improved armor use

  • Runner (Ranger): defenses and the ability to flee

  • Hunter (Warrior/Ranger): sense hidden creatures and pursue fleeing enemies

  • Reader (Counselor/Ranger): discern an individual’s details and find their weak spots

  • Weaponer (Builder): the ability to make and maintain weaponry

The Sharpshooter Aspect skill is almost required for Gunslingers and Bowslingers to allow them to deal high amounts of damage more often. The Pinpoint Accuracy skill also allows an individual to inflict Control effects on their enemies -- which can be useful for those monsters with immense resilience and toughness.

Skills from the Runner Discipline and the Hunter Discipline are of great use to Slingers of all types. The former grants a few useful defenses as well as the ability to flee without being pursued. The latter allows for the detection of hidden foes or the pursuit of elusive ones. Also of interest is the Weaponer Discipline, particularly for Gunslingers -- most of those who use firearms have in-roads into making them, making this Discipline an easy pick.

Itemization Advice: Most Gunslingers and Bowslingers will prioritize their weapon and their ammo pack. The latter can be especially important for increasing basic attack damage and for access to different damage types -- some monsters are only vulnerable to specific damage types.

The wise gunslinger or bowslinger does not neglect their melee weaponry or their armor. While attacking from range is ideal, one’s enemies can easily close in through blind spots or through sheer tenacity.
