Illustrados Player Characters

Like the eternal sun, the Illustrados Union has arisen from the midnight hours of the “World that Was”. They use their technological prowess to bridge more than two dozen different communities beneath a unified front. Where flies the Concentric Suns of the Illustrados flag, vox-comm towers and magna-storm shields are raised to the heavens alongside it.

  • Metabionic Charioteer

    Guilder of ECL:PS

05/00: Many things led to this throughout the weekend examining Mobius' new gun, a talk with Eli about delicate work when crafting and it not all being power drills and hydraulic press', being asked for the 10000th time if he could make lightning rounds, but the concepts never stuck.

Till his core got knocked loose during the fight against the extradimensional creatures. The time Atlus spent trying to figure out his internals and holding his mechanical body together, and the time spent examining the damages he had sustained after the fight has finally cleared the mental block he was facing when working with more delicate internals of mechanical weapons (PYR-ingenious deed [06/00])

05/01: Atlus has turned himself into a technological petri-dish with parts from the king of lightning, a tumor from the king of fiends, and his own apex-tech core. While his initial theory that the the king of fiends would not allow a test subject to be controlled by another was proven false. This experiment still offered valuable data towards combating them in the future.
    (Ingenious Deed)

  • Charioteer Counselor

Guilder of the 1st Shadow Scouts of Snakewater

05/00: Arrived as a newcomer into town with few allies or friends. Presented myself to a local illustrados guild, using wit and persuasion to convince them that I would be an asset to the guild. At which point, they performed the ceremony and welcomed me as one of their own. (Persuasive Deed)

  • Expert Associate of the Sorcerous Sciences Corporation

    Subleader of Grave Rose Industries

07/99: Desi, despite her lack of field training, took immediately to the role of a battle medic as Snakewater tamed the Basilisk. She often stayed close to danger to sneak to the fallen, helping them stick around to fight another day.

  • Martillador Soldier

11/99: Before they could attack the Night King and deal with their astral projections it was imperative for Snakewater to infiltrate and disable the security systems that would prevent their larger forces from coming through. Although Eddie was far from stealthy, with the rest of the Shadow Scouts going he could not stay back and still call himself the 5th top member of the guild! It was a good thing he had as well, as vice-leader Tino rushed past all Delvers and Night King minions to disable all the devices on his own. Had Eddie not gone with him it was entirely possible that Tino would have been swarmed before he could finish what was needed to do. Instead Eddie interposed himself, his shield and body keeping any harm from reaching his guildmember on a critical mission. Although both made it out that day not every claw or weapon was turned aside by his shield. Wounds have a tendency to fester and wounds from servants of the Night King have a tendency to do much worse. (PYR-Battle deed, (banked)]

03/00: Like many of the town Eddie volunteered himself to battle the eldritch horror which had been preying on the town and messing with everyone's memories. The battle proved to be far more dangerous then even he was expecting. Whether it was by tentacle, eye stalk, or the trial by combat in some other dimension/plane/location(?) Eddie survived it all. However, not without a cost. He found himself dropped and almost dying on numerous occasions even having to rely on his connection to the odd occult soul link to keep himself standing. But in the end they were victorious and more then a few of the pieces of the creature had been battered courtesy of Eddie. (PYR-Battle Deed [used 06/00])

  • Ex-Magistrados Charioteer

Guilder of the 1st Shadow Scouts of Snakewater

03/99: Elena was seen defending her fallen comrades, with her shield and her skill with armor. She sustained grievous wounds from Geist claws that punctured her armor. (Ingenious Deed [used 3/99])

07/99: During the fight to purify the Basilisk, Elena used her armor expertise and armor repair skills to take blows that might have immediately downed her allies, so that they could do the important work of felling the basilisk and purifying it uninterrupted. However, Elena herself fell many times as her adamant defense of her fellows pulled aggressive action from cultists her way. (Ingenious Deed [used 7/99])

11/99: While using her shield and mace work to protect Aguilar, Elena focused on keeping the healers and more hearty warriors protected by using her Quickened Quick Repair Skills to grant Patch Aegis. (Repair Armor) Unfortunately, on one occasion, this distraction allowed enemies to strike her down. [PYR-Ingenious Deed (banked)]

  • Charioteer Weaver

    Guilder of ECL:PS

MAY 00: Eli, not being a fighter, stayed away from the big umbral geist fight. However, this did not stop them from assisting their guild. They told stories of triumph and friendship about their existing allies and new guildmates to Friend the Human Person, who sent out boosts of physical healing and mental fortification. (Persuasive Deed)

NOV 00: While the storm and elementals ran the town ragged outside, Eli's steady hands and keen eyes were vital to keeping the magna storm's collected energy contained and stored. With the aid of Jackknife and Pi, they were able to seal every single magna core into a battery, avoiding any discharge or explosions. However, their prolonged exposure to magna with minimal protection may carry some consequences for their body going forward. (PYR-Ingenious Deed)

MAY 01: Eli's hands, as quick and steady with machines as they are with a needle and thread, flew over the Machine God's controls. The lights flashed in strange, unrecognizable patterns too quick for their eyes alone to follow, but Eli wasn't alone. They pulled their allies over, coming up with a plan under pressure to decipher and reverse the codes and shut down the old world machine together. (Persuasive Deed [used])

  • Illustrados Warrior

    Guilder of ECL:PS

  • Metabionic Technocrat

    Subleader of the ECL:PS Guild

MAY 00: After coming to Snakewater, Ivara learned that shooting live targets is a bit different from immobile targets. During the big fight on Saturday night, Ivara entered into a state of psychotic blood lust and found herself hitting every target that crossed her sights with perfect accuracy. This included gunning down the big bad when melee fighters were unable to get near. Even after coming back to her senses, she found that her accuracy had notably increased. (PYR-Ingenious Deed [used 06/00])

NOV 00: Ivara knew that the plan she had championed came at a high risk, but she had no clue how hard the magna storm would push her physically and mentally. Things started well. With Mobius, as well as Kokee and Grif at a neighboring point, the group worked together to keep their area secure. As the night wore on, Ivara rapidly switched between defending her area, running cores to Eli and Jackknife, and providing support to other points that were being overwhelmed. Eventually, with the last of her magazines emptied, Ivara turned to her guild mates and said, "I'm really going to regret this. Make sure I snap out of it later." She pulled a sword from one of the sheaths on Grif's back and allowed her mind to succumb to the ever-lurking madness that resides within. The blade in her hand felt right as she continued to fight and the storm reached its crescendo. With her allies on the brink of death, Ivara came back to her senses, long enough to throw her body over Grif to protect him as he secured their point in time for the storm to end. As the crashing storm died down to a mere rumble and the smell of ozone filled the air, Ivara could feel the strain the fight had taken on her systems. A mixture of blood and coolant leaked from her eyes, leaving crimson trails down her cheeks, and she crumpled to the ground in agony. There was a lot Ivara could have claimed to have learned from the fight: the fine power of a well honed blade, confidence in one's decisions, the length she is willing to go to keep her new friends safe. But there was one lesson--one single lesson that stood out to her above all else. The value of self-restraint, and the potentially deadly cost of pushing herself beyond that line. (PYR-Battle Deed)

  • Chimera Berserker

Guild Leader of the King’s Guard

01/00: KING and crew had set out to assist Carrow with his delve into the caves. Together they carved a path through the tunnels. The chimera stood his ground with his fellows. Shield in front and battling on ferociously he held the line so that his comrades could venture deeper into the caves. Finally at their location, the group was beset by two villains with their circus of fresh new beasts. Again with shield in front he fought onwards and upwards, pushing back up the steep climb with an injured Carrow over his shoulder. The the creatures fought off and everyone safe and sound. No one left behind. Mission complete (Battle Deed)

  • Psionic Infuser

    Guilder of the King’s Guard

MAY 00: Kokee had spent the full weekend consistently supporting their newfound allies with their infusion magic. Once the main battle started, they continued to cast their magic over and over again to continue to help everybody. They noticed quickly that during one of their most challenging fights, they were a bit more reckless and moved in the way of attackers in order defend more of their allies. This recklessness cost them, as Kokee went down during this fight more than any other up until that point. Once the final enemy was defeated, Kokee emerged feeling more energized and found their infusion magic had gotten more powerful. (PYR-Magical Deed; used 06/00)

JUL 00: After a short mushroom trip and a little bit of communing with the Basilisk, Kokee felt in tune with their spiritual side more than usual. This magical presence they felt would surely help them succeed in the future and maybe give Kokee some inspiration for different sphere of magic. (Magical Deed)

  • Iglesiar Arcanist

01/00: Luz was relieved to finally reach Snakewater and put the dangers of travel behind him. Grateful for rest and safety... well, safety until the blaspheming shade of an infernalist was summoned from an arcane tome. Luz summoned the fury of the Sun and fought the heretic... and fell in the lake a little bit. Fighting to defend his new home was more painful and required longer to recover, but the town is still worth defending and heretics still need smiting. (PYR-Battle Deed)

  • Illustrados Soldier

    Guilder of ECL:PS

03/00: As their numbers dwindled to an unseen force. The defense of the relay started to take a turn for the worst. Mobius coordinating with Ivara used guerilla tactics to harry their assailants and keep the foul creatures at bay. However, the working strategy would turn for the worst when Ivara's rifle lost power. In that moment, Mobius gave up his rifle to Ivara to cover the point and grabbed the depowered rifle. He ran straight to their armory to repair the rifle in the midst of chaos and return to the battle with a fully powered rifle, blasting a foul beast as he made his return. Mobius passed on the rifle to Ivara so that she can resume her carnage from afar. This would not be the last test of their adaptability.

During the final stretches of the onslaught. Ammo was short and Mobius firearm was in-operable due to a broken firing pin. He resolved to resort to revolver and knife. Making what use of what little brass was left. He remembered his teachings with Night Nine and used all advantages possible to turn the tide of onslaught by using terrain to their advantage. (Battle Deed)

05/00 Mobius having his siegecaster taken out of comission mid battle saturday night had to rely on unfamiliar weapons to combat the geists. Raf had lent Mobius one of his blades and a new trial by fire began. Remembering his previous bout with the Butcher of the Orphans, Mobius remembered what was literally beaten into him to keep the enemies at bay. (Battle Deed)

07/00: Mobius had one chance to impress his mistress. So he entered the fighting tournament to earn that attention and hopefully curry favor. In the tournament were very prominent and skillful martial combatants but Mobius felt with his passion he can overcome the skill gap. When it came to the finall bout, he was asked what are you fighting for and he passionately shouted out his deepest desire towards his mistress. With this he fought feverently and overcame the final trial to win the tournament. (PYR-Battle Deed)

11/00: The storm took its toll on Mobius gear, shotgun broken in hand and completely out of ammo. His comrades were trying their best to power cycle the funnel but the storm was doing severe damage to them and the foul creatures assailed them with out end. In this moment, Mobius retrieved his fall back weapon, a simple spear. With this he ran head into the fray to push back the assailers and rescue his guild mates in the final moments of the storm. In this moment, Mobius tapped into old training he thought would never need to use in an actual operation and made the final stand with his guild. (PYR-Battle Deed)

MAY 01 - Mobius found himself beneath a controlled Maverick. In a brief moment Mobius found an opportunity to topple Maverick and wrestle control of his controlled friend. Starting with blunt force trauma, that unfortunately did not render results. Instead Mobius opted for field surgery......a good ole knife to the afflicted area....namely Mavericks "enhanced" eye. In this hasty field surgery bought a brief moment to bypass the surge of energy that rendered the other controlled combatants dead. Anguish pain and frustration turned to laughter. [PYR Battle Deed]

JULY 01: Mobius having to defend his honor as a champion of snakewater was able to wrestle victory over other proven melee combatants. The warriors of snakewater helped Mobius learn to be perceptively swift and engage with quick effectiveness.

    [PYR- Battle Deed]

  • Charioteer Weaponer

Guilder of the 1st Shadow Scouts of Snakewater

01/00: Though still acclimating to the less-than-tropical bite of winter in Snakewater, Naz Pardilla-Pascual spared no expense in applying their technical know-how and familiarity with their own personally-upgraded tools of fiery destruction to keep their newfound allies' equipment whole and unleash leaded fury upon the misbegotten experiments of the rogue scientist Nuñez. Though the cadre of experimenters managed a successful their escape, no piece of equipment was left a casualty of the fight in the hands of Naz. (Ingenious Deed)

  • Psion Arcanist

    Guild Leader of ECL:PS

  • Psion Charioteer

Guilder of the 1st Shadow Scouts of Snakewater

03/00: As the pursuit for Sammy Scrammy continued to draw out and pursuers found themselves out numbered on the beach Cutter was forced to dodge multiple strikes from the mantis wolves were relentless with their piercing claws. (Battle Deed [used 05/00]

  • Sargento-Guaga of the Magistrados

MAR 99: Raff doggedly chased down a fleeing cannibal named Half-Circle, breaking his enemy’s concentration and eventually forcing him to rout. (Cunning Deed [used])

MAY 99: Raff met a new Dustrider, Beauregard, and regaled him with the tale of a Magistrado swordsman he once knew: a man who brooded in corners and - while his comrades reveled - studied the blade.

Invoking the man's memory may have shaken Raff's confidence and made him sloppy during the bloodshed that followed. (Persuasive Deed [used])

Raff earned 44 tickets at the blackjack table during the Snakewater Festival, and in an attempt to accrue a Sanctified Number of tickets, set out to get another 25. With a bet at the shooting gallery, he succeeded. Nice.

JULY 99: During the Snakewater Festival, the Gallery Man watched him miss his three practice shots, then immediately hit after making the bet. Gallery-Man accused Raff of hustling him, but Raff insists he simply calibrated based on the practice shots. (Cunning Deed)

SEPT 99: Raff leaned into his flanking habits, playing an instrumental role in silencing floral husks and Aguilar. Sadly, he got a bit too daring- one of his retreats ended in a fall that had him scrape his palm on cold cement.

Shortly after, he found the Night Kings' trapdoor (and, much to his chagrin, was credited by the sheriff as having done so single-handedly). (PYR-Cunning Deed [used 9/99])

NOV 99: Raff wanted to take the November Heat of Friday night in stride. Ditching his shirt to avoid it getting soaked in the rain, he took point on one of the tables outside the cantina and did the thirty-some push-ups he couldn't make time for earlier. Inevitably, this would invite some fuckshit. [PYR-Cunning Deed (banked)]

JAN 100: After his companions had been pelted with trash several times, Raff, in a rare moment of fury, came unhinged. He leapt into the Octagon that a man named Smell had declared his 'stoop' with a small arsenal of the plastic bottles the buffetted him and his comrades. The two men flung garbage back-and-forth in a Trash-Duel that lasted several seconds. (PYR-Cunning [used 11/00])

MAY 100 Some of Raff's fellow humans continue inviting dire, off-world threats with irresponsible planar tampering. Raff wanted to push for boundaries, but couldn't arrive at how on his own. On one hand, he's a member of Snakewater's community... on the other, he's an agent of a powerful foreign government and does not want to repeat the mistakes of a dark past.

He asked Associate Gaki for help on how to mediate those roles healthily. They talked in the Cantina's long hallway, and eventually, Raff left with the bones of a new plan – and the mental clarity that'd been escaping him all night. (Cunning Deed)

JULY 100: Raff ambushed a geist as it scrapped with Talonite Malleus. Anticipating a counter after a few well-placed slashes, he did an absurd aerial spinning block. He did not expect it to do anything besides keep him in motion while he mentally reset. Serendipitously, though, he heard/felt the impact of the geist's claw bouncing off of his shield. (Battle Deed)

NOV 100: Raff zipped around the cantina and helped fight through a slew of storm geists. Between scraps, the Professor told him to hold still. He complied. Raff didn't see what sort of device the scientist used, but a pulse of energy shot through his back and charged him with adrenaline. A month later, he'd discover his body didn't agree with it. (PYR-Battle Deed [used 01/01])

JAN 01: Dressed for summer, Raff did a brief morning exercise in the snow. Later, in the Cantina, he said an absurd, ribald quip about 'climbing the ladder to Heaven'. Some people laughed.

These two separate acts steeled his body and spirit for the conflicts to come. (Fateful Cunning Deed)

MAR 01: Taking a dinnertime nap drastically improved Raff's combat performance, but would wreck his sleep schedule for the next few months. (PYR Cunning Deed)

MAY 01: Raff sat with the Order of the Great Machine as they made their pitch. A product of Illustrados education, he remembered the implications of getting a metabionic core. When he expressed his uncertainty and mentioned not being sure he was done having kids, it came off shockingly to some who understood it differently. He tried to help his case with an important reiteration

"To be clear, I 'm not a freak" [Persuasive Deed]

JULY 101: After losing about 7 Minor components at the Snakewater Festival's blackjack table, Raff dared to bet a Rare. Placing the first red chip of the game, he made his bet and took his cards. With the rest left to chance, his moxy paid off with a solidly-winning hand.

He could've rode the adrenaline and pressed on, but he remembered the folly of gamblers before him. He kept is cool and cashed out, leaving the table a paid man. [Ingenious Deed (used 9/1)]

SEPT 101: Raff pushed the limits of his fighting ability. His knowledge of anatomy, psychology, and pattern-recognition took him far even against monsters, often leading to combos of three strikes or more. His bursts of speed were frequent this month (and recognized by some of his comrades).

Alas, overextending so many times in two days would have consequences. He had a long recovery ahead. (Pyrrhic Persuasive Deed [used 09/01])

  • Sargento-Guaga of the Magistados

Guildmaster of the 1st Shadow Scouts of Snakewater

03/99: Soldado inspired his Oath-Bound in their battle against the Necrolossus, though he himself was maimed by the monstrosity during the battle. (Persuasive Deed [used])

05/99: Sargento Soldado rallied his Guild, the First Shadow Scouts, to push beyond the first wave of enemies, allowing them to reach a dying Professor and drag him away from battle. (Persuasive Deed)

  • Illustrados Charioteer

03/99: Tino disarmed several longarm traps protecting his quarry: the Professor. One of them exploded in his grasp, poisoning his blood. (Cunning Deed [used 3/99])

07/99: During the super secret and sneaky Illustrados midnight "heist" tino successfully picked the door lock and "opened" some lockboxes inside. (Cunning Deed [used 7/99])

11/99: Tino crept his way around the Night Kings to bring down the wards surrounding the Reaper engine. After dismantling the first one he safely made his way back to his comrades, having been spotted by the King of Flowers. (Cunning Deed)

  • Eidolonic Charioteer
