Med Mage

Injury and affliction are frighteningly too common in the World Beyond the Fall. Fortunately, the Med Mage exists, bringing forth skills of healing and succor to mend the world’s ills. Whether they do this for profit or for principal is up to each individual.

Class: Arcanist (Talismonger)

Aptitude: Barrier Magus

Skill 1: Etheric Arcana

Skill 2: Arcane Ember

Skill 3: Restoration Adept

Perk 1: Energized - Empowered Arcana

Perk 2: Energized - Restore Harmony

Perk 3: Marked - Psionic (Empathic Remedy; Restore Vitality)

Items: Rune Wand (Life Wand), any Armor, Shield

Future Build Options:

  • Restoration (Arcanist): Cure wounds, purify diseases and repair fractures.

  • Channeler (Arcanist): This discipline is about wielding magic and its honing thereof.

  • Infusion (Arcanist): Shield individuals with energy or use those same energies to enhance items.

  • Binder (Counselor): forge fellowships and grant Resolve to allies.

  • Scrapper (Warrior): for increased toughness and improved armor use

  • Defender (Warrior):  integral to defending one’s self and others

With their focus on healing, Med Mages dive deep into the Restoration Sphere and the Channeler Discipline. Within the Sphere, the Revitalizing Aspect skill and the Harmonic Restoration skill are immensely useful for mastering the healing arts.

Med Mages interested in improving their support abilities may feel like learning from the Binder Discipline or taking spells from the Infusion Sphere -- these allow for the granting of Resolve, as well as other ways to assist allies. Other Med Mages may feel the need to improve their own defenses instead, pursuing the Scrapper and Defender Disciplines of the Warrior Class.

Itemization Advice: Most Med Mages will prioritize enhancing and maintaining their Rune Wand with a useful augment such as Reinforced Weapon or Lifewater Scepter. They will also set aside Components so that they can maintain their Restoration Adept Attunement.

Beyond their Rune Wand, a Med Mage may choose to focus on their self-preservation, getting armor and/or a shield to assist with such a task. Barring that, augmenting one’s Scrap Kit can yield useful Gadget or Arcane Augments for a Med Mage to use. Although they cannot craft it themselves, an Herb Kit augmented with “Med Kit” enhances the healing abilities of its user and is therefore useful for this type of character.
