The Raveners in Void
In the lores of the Templar, the five Abyssals that caused the Ravening (or the Long Fall in other knowledges) are named and are known. Moreover, they are believed to have been slain by the God-Empress in a pyrrhic battle for the world’s existence.
Alternate Theories: Most other portions of humanity believe that the Abyssals killed one another, fell afoul of humanity’s united arsenal, or simply lost interest after eating their fill.
Even Death does not Die: However, for entities of immense scope, death does not mean what it does for humanity and mortals. Even in death, they may rise again, and even in death, they may act through others. Thus, the Templars believe they are tasked to remain vigilant not only for any threat against humanity but especially for these so-called Raveners and those they enthrall.
However, the cosmos is a infinitely vast space and there are other entities who hunger for earth’s vitality or whose very existence is inimical to our own. The Raveners are far from alone or the worst this eldritch universe can offer.
Talarim
-- Ritual Name: Olko Roth Talarim
-- Other Titles: The Chain of Time, the Transfixing Tyrant, the Bedlam of the Tether
-- Colloquial: The Bedlam Hour
-- Talarim is an Abyssal God of utter disharmony, cosmic unlogic, and chaotic reality. Their very presence causes local logic and physical laws to break down. It is unknown if they actually consume worlds or if their mere presence is bane to existence, but perhaps the destruction and disunity they cause sustain them.
-- Canonical Defeat: The Bedlam Hour was the first to be dealt with. A baleful gaze forged from the Goddess’ secret lores drew it into a place between places wherein their own chaotic tumult crashed unto themselves until they finally could neither be contained nor remain alive. Their essences shattered into echoes.
-- Reference: Templars may reference the Bedlam Hour or pray to the God Empress for Her protection against it when they are in a state of disrepair or discombobulation, or when time or memory itself seems to fail them.
Avarath
-- Ritual Name: Nyct Helios Avarath
-- Other Titles: the Lord of Grey Shadows, the Hierophant of Ashes, the Devourer of Hope
-- Colloquial: Greyface (e.g. Greyface take you!)
-- An Abyssal God of Excruciating Death, Draining Desolation, and Forbidding Emptiness.
-- It is believed that he consumed the energies of different worlds by drawing light and life from them and rendering them a shadeless grey before utter destruction.
-- Canonical Defeat: The World Dragon breathed vicious color and life and flame upon him such that he was overwhelmed and shattered into many tiny deaths.
-- Reference: Templars call for the God Empress’ aid against Avarath when drawn to utter depths of despair or depression -- or when drained of life or vitality by necrotheurgy.
Kavosh
-- Ritual Name: Vaath Nevra Kavosh
-- Other Titles: Mother of Star Larvae, Crawler between the Stars, Infestor of Worlds
-- colloquial: Worm-mother
-- An Abyssal God of Cosmic Virulence, Eternal Hunger, and Accursed Plenty. It is believed that she infests a system’s planets with her gibbering brood before doing the same to their star. She consumes the strongest of her spawn before they move on to the next system.
-- Canonical Defeat: The God Empress graced Kavosh with a blade of infinite cuts that severed not only Kavosh but all the larvae that she had yet to inflict on the planet or the sun.
-- Reference: The Templars see the work of Kavosh when viewing terrible, monstrous body-horror or insect/arachnid invaders.
Ganash
-- Ritual Name: Yll Vanortha Ganash
-- Other Titles: the Vampire Sun, the Feasting Flame, the Infernal Comet.
-- Colloquial: Leech-star
-- Ganash is an Abyssal God of Fiery Destruction, Incendiary Hunger, and Radiant Excess. It is believed that she sets a world aflame in corruption, debauchery, and madness before consuming it herself.
-- Canonical Defeat: The God Empress endured Ganash’s strongest attack, drawing most of its power into an orb she bore. Then she crushed the Comet unto the moon before Ganash could recover.
-- Reference: The Templars see the work of Ganash when compelled toward rabid destruction or mad debauchery. It is believed that Ganash also has some connection to the Infernal Apostasy.
Indrath
-- Ritual Name: Soth Yog Indrath
-- Other Titles: That which waits outside, the Ineffable Sigil, the Disintegrating Murmur
-- Colloquial: the Maledictum
-- Indrath is an Abyssal God of forbidden secrets, diabolic knowledge, and memetic dissonance. They absorb knowledge and inflict forgetfulness just as darkness absorbs light and inflicts blindness, rendering a world senseless and shadowed before its consumption.
-- Canonical Defeat: The Maledictum was the last to fall. The All-Mother counted upon their endless patience and then used a song of radiant light and life that it could not endure. So it melted into a whispering vapour.
-- Reference: Templars, especially Arcanists and Scholars, may pray to the God Empress against Indrath when dangerous knowledge calls upon them or when they need protection from such disastrous lore.
