THE Archonic SignS

(a.k.a Templar Zodiac)

 

  • Those born during the Associated Months of an Archon-Saint are believed to share that Saint’s Archonic Sign and have some of that Saint’s traits (e.g Talon-signed, Carmine-signed, Empress-signed, etc)

    • This is purely for Role-play reasons and has no mechanical bearing.

  • The Oracle Avatar refuses Associated Months for themselves, preferring instead heightened devotion to the God Empress. 

  • Some months are shared between two Saints/the Goddess. The “closer” Sign is the dominant one, except where the Goddess is involved (Dragon-signed, Imperial-signed Whisper-signed). The dominant Sign is believed to imbue more traits than the non-dominant one. 

  • A Saint’s real name is believed to be known by the Oracle-Avatar themselves and a few other of their retinue. The Oracle-Avatar, however, believes that their Sainthood and their inspiring presence to the people is more important than their actual life.

  • In times long past, months were assigned to Virtues rather than Saints. Public opinion and superstition shifted toward the Archon-Saints in the 50s and became cemented by 70 BTF. 

  • January (God Empress, primary) - FEALTY: reverence and subservience to the God-Empress

    February (God Empress) - LOYALTY: love and duty over one’s relations

    March (Saint Skull, primary) - PROPRIETY: to conduct one’s self with honor and properness

    April (Saint Skull, Saint Talon) - STRENGTH: to perform greatness in the goddess’ name

    May (Saint Talon, primary) - Bravery: to overcome impossible odds and despair

    June (Saint Talon, Saint Flame) - INTEGRITY: to resist temptation and respect other folk.

    July (Saint Flame, primary) - SINCERITY: to speak truth and act truthfully

    August (Saint Flame, (Saint Carmine) - RIGHTEOUSNESS: to value justice and work towards it

    September (Saint Carmine, primary) - PIETY: to love the God-Empress and enforce her edicts

    October (Saint Carmine, Saint Whisper) - COMPASSION: to take care of others 

    November (Saint Whisper, primary) - SELFLESSNESS: to give one’s self to the God-Empress and to others.

    December (God Empress)- SANCTITY: to ensure one’s own purity from corruption and sin

God Empress (All-Mother, World Dragon)

Symbols/Relics: the Ziggurat or A six armed, 3 faced woman or dragon

Known Traits: Loving, Protective, Imperious/distant

Associated Months: January  (Primary), February, December (Secondary)

Death: Slain while defending the Holy Reality from the Raveners.

Prayed to by: All. especially Parents, Farmers, Transmuters

Special Notes: The Talonites and the Zellurians prefer the Dragon aspect of the Goddess. Those born under her auspices are called “Dragon-signed”. 

Saint Skull (the Saint of Patience, the Shield of Faith)

Symbols/Relics: An Orb, a Skull

Known Traits: Resilient, Proper, Loyal, Distrustful

Associated Months March (Primary)// April (Secondary)

Death: Slain by the Cascadian Dragon, while defending the Oracle-Avatar from attack.

Prayed to by: Theologians, Doctors, Architects, Librarians, Engineers, the Wounded, Renewers, Mathematicians, Meta-physicists, Those who stand vigil over their wards, 

Saint Talon (the Saint of Swords, Lady of Blades)

Symbols/Relics: sword, serpent/lizard

Known Traits: Strong, Brave, Honorable, Inflexible

Associated Months: May (Primary)//June, April (Secondary)

Death: Slain by Glow Devils and Boreal Sorcerers while defending the Beringian Blockade

Prayed to by: Weaponsmiths, Soldiers, Patrollers, Laborers, those enduring long campaigns/battles, Hunters, Duelists, Athletes, Infusers, Those arrayed against impossible odds, Those enduring difficult or dangerous training

Special Notes: The least favored of the Saints by the Flame Conclave and considered boorish by some Carmine

Saint Flame (the Saint of Wrath, the Lord of True Light)

Symbols/Relics: A flame, a torch/candle, 

Known Traits: Artistic, Truthful, Righteous, Merciless

Associated Months: July (Primary)// June, August (Secondary)

Death: Slain by the strongest of the Night Kings (Faust Lectorus) in order to strike the final blow

Prayed to by: Physical Artists (paint, pottery, sculpture), Arcanists (in general), Cooks, Victims of Spellsevers or magical backlash, Inventors (magic or mechanical), Evokers, Those in need of warmth or lacking in faith, 

Special Notes: The Skull Conclave favors Saint Flame the least, due to his impatient nature and the damage inflicted by the Apostasy. They still offer him more than his due, just less than the other Archon Saints.

Saint Carmine (the Saint of Roses, the Bearer of Hope)

Symbols/Relics: A rose or compass 

Known Traits: Compassionate, Pious, Charismatic, Vengeful

Associated Months: September (Primary)// August, October (Secondary)

Death: Unknown, believed to have died during her Vengeance quest while succeeding in her goal. 

Prayed to by: Vengeance-seekers, Diplomats, Verbal/Musical Artists (poets, singers, orators, composers), Travelers, Weavers, Gardeners, Aestheticians, Veilers, 

Special Notes: The Carmine leave a spot for her in their feasts and in their plays, she sometimes appears as a Deus ex Machina figure. Talonites hold Saint Carmine in slightly less regard than the other Archon-Saints.

Saint Whisper (the Saint of Shadows, the Walker of Winds)

Symbols/Relics: cloud, or eye or veil

Known Traits: Observant, Selfless, Incorruptible, Apprehensive

Associated Months: November (Primary)//October (Secondary)

Death: Mortally wounded by a Greater Flenser, sacrificed her life to empower the rite of the First Feast. 

Prayed to by: Scouts, Martyrs, Scholars, Spies, Sharpshooters, Victims of nightmares/insomnia, the Dying, Searchers of the lost, seekers of lore, Scryers, Fugitives (non-criminals), the Unlucky

Special Notes: Among the Carmine, she is less favorably regarded and her sign is considered bad luck.
